Deborah Pleva
Communications Associate
Known for her ability to think strategically while meticulously managing the minutia, Deborah has experience in public relations, marketing, event management, social media, copywriting and community relations. At LWA PR, she manages the day-to-day account work for the Portland Farmers Market, one of the top farmers markets in the US and a veritable Portland institution. Deborah has also worked with Icebreaker’s Portland Touch_Lab store, HOTLIPS Soda and the Oregon State Fair. In the past, she has also collaborated with KEEN Footwear, Nau, Lucina Jewelry, and baby star. Deborah she served as the marketing manager for women retailer lucy activewear, inc., where she was responsible for marketing, PR and promotions. Before that, she made career stops at AT&T Broadband as a public affairs manager, and at Waggener Edstrom managing PR for Microsoft accounts.

An 18-year publicity and marketing veteran, Amy is the go-to associate for launching new products, creating buzz around company news, and garnering local and national publicity in all forms of media. As an LWA PR associate, she manages PR for Coffee Bean International and has worked on Oregon State Fair, HOTLIPS and Icebreaker accounts. She also oversees all press list development and press release distributions for all of LWA PR clients. Before joining forces with Lee, Amy has worked for clients including KEEN Footwear, Oregon Chai, Imbibe magazine, Harbinger Fitness and baby star.

Chris is a detailed public relations professional with 17 years of experience who thrives on cultivating relationships with both her clients and members of the media. She is passionate about the art of communication, whether written, online or in person. At LWA PR, she spearheads the Avamere account. While versatile in the field, she is drawn to the hospitality sector, and has worked with a number of high-profile Northwest companies including the Oregon Brewers Festival, Cycle Oregon, BridgePort Brewing and Oregon Chai.

Bob has an extensive 25-year career in Oregon media and public relations. From 1995 to 2002, Bob served as communications director for Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber. In that capacity, he developed one-on-one relationships with newspapers, radio stations and television stations throughout the state. As part of the governor’s leadership team, Bob was instrumental in strategy development as well as communications. From 2002 to 2006, he was the Chief Public Affairs Officer for the Port of Portland. The Port owns Oregon’s only international airport, four marine terminals and six industrial parks. With a $2 million budget and 16 staff, Bob was responsible for conceiving and executing the Port’s communications, community relations and public affairs strategies. Most recently he was the Oregon Communications Director for Nike. A new position, he was responsible for building stronger relationships between Nike and the Oregon media.

Emily is an established public relations practitioner, with more than 12 years of experience in public policy, media management and strategic communications. Most recently, Emily worked as a Director of Public Relations at apparel and footwear giant, Columbia Sportswear Company. During her seven-year term at Columbia, Emily provided direction for the integration of all corporate, category, product, event and philanthropic endeavors to the media, industry, consumer and worldwide employees. During Emily’s tenure, Columbia enjoyed features on the Today Show, the CBS Early Show, CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Times, BusinessWeek, Forbes and hundreds of apparel and footwear trade and consumer oriented media. Emily has provided 10 years of PR consulting support to a prominent winery, Panther Creek Cellars. With extensive experience in managing media relations, orchestrating special events and developing comprehensive collateral materials, Emily is a well-regarded industry performer. At LWA PR she is heading our efforts with Oregon HotSpring Spas.

With more than 10 years of experience in the internal communications field, Laurie’s passion for details and creative thinking has lead to the creation and execution of many compelling employee communications tools. As a senior manager for Nike’s Internal Communications division, Laurie was responsible for managing the development of Nike’s global employee eNewsletter. Laurie also managed executive leadership development meetings for the top 500 executives at Nike, many athlete appearances including Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods, Pete Sampras and Mia Hamm. In addition Laurie helped to develop strategic communications programs and employee feedback programs for the HR, Global Diversity and other divisions at Nike. Event management is another area of expertise. At LWA PR she has worked on a Nike employee health and wellness campaign.

With more than 20 years of experience in marketing, public relations and organizational communication, Michael has gained a depth and breadth of experience that few can match. His areas of expertise include marketing, public relations, organizational communication, online content, writing and editing, training, and group facilitation. Current and recent clients include Lowepro USA, Smith & Hawken and Mectronic.net. As a Senior Consultant for Towers Perrin, an international consulting firm, Michael provided communication and change management consulting services, and served as client relationship manager for major corporate and public sector clients. At LWA PR, Michael has worked with an employee survey and consulting company based in San Francisco.

Writing professionally since 1987, Don has worked both sides of the fence, as both a writer and editor, and during the boom years of the Internet also worked as a senior online produce for a newspaper-affiliated Web site. In the course of his career, Don has written for People magazine, Coastal Living magazine, The Oregonian, Oregon Business magazine, Columbia Gorge magazine, Northwest Airlines World Traveler, Powder magazine, American Airlines’ American Way, Horizon Air, Alaska Air, Today’s Health Care, The Business Journal, The Independent, Portland Trail Blazers’ Rip City, Los Angeles Lakers magazine, and others. Don works on the Avamere account at LWA PR.

A highly motivated, creative-problem solver and web designer with over 10 years of experience in the fields of web, user interaction, video, presentations and other interactive products, Amber worked on in-house web teams for Nike and MP3.com. At Nike, she worked to enhance the user experience of the company’s intranet and created templates for a Movable Type based content management and publishing system. Amber has helped a variety of clients at LWA PR including the Pendleton Round-Up and the Nike School Innovation Fund.

A talented graphic designer, Mark has worked with LWA PR to develop a brand plan and styleguide for the Pendleton Round-Up and an engaging employee communications campaign at Nike. Mark was a senior designer at the HUB Collective where he developed conceptual and graphic design of large budget brand visual centers for clients like Nike and Procter & Gamble. He worked as a freelance graphic designer for Nike where his duties covered a broad spectrum of print and conceptual designs, including shoe box packaging, Nike iD visual center, Brasil 5 Star consumer and PR kits, Nike Annual Report, apparel graphic design and more. Mark was a senior designer for in-house marketing/creative services at Hollywood Video and lead design at AllTeam Image.
