NikeGO Head Start


GoHeadstart
Lee helped start NikeGO, the company’s community affairs program designed to get kids more physically active, and led Nike’s call for PE in all US schools, which included testimony by a Nike executive before a US Senate panel and Portland City Club speech. He was also the catalyst behind NikeGO Head Start, a program which teaches the joy of physical movement to Head Start kids, teachers and parents.




Positive Nutrition



Project Open Hand was the first feeding charity for people with AIDS in the U.S. But how much did its clients really know about nutrition? Conducting focus groups with Towers Perrin’s Michael McKenzie, Lee discovered a tremendous knowledge gap, and began the country’s first AIDS/HIV nutrition newsletter, Positive Nutrition, and led the way for the agency to hire its first Registered Dieticians.


Public affairs/Government Relations


Lee has worked for an Oregon congressman, governor and insurance commissioner. He lobbied the state legislature for the Oregon Department of Insurance & Finance, and worked on the state’s 1990 overhaul of its workers’ compensation programs. He has designed PR strategies for candidates and officeholders, and written speeches and Congressional Record statements.


Media Relations


Lee has been a spokesman for Nike, government leaders and public causes. He developed and implemented a deskside media program at Nike to personalize the company and build relationships with key media.


Issues & Crises


Lee spearheaded a retail crisis communications program after auditing existing procedures, interviewing managers and surveying best practices. He has managed crises including protests, store disturbances, ethical allegations, legal settlements and product recalls.
